​There is a file in the villa which gives up to date information on local activities and restaurants.  Guests are welcome to add their recommendations to the file.


At Les Chênes:


There is a walled and gated Private Pool area and the pool is heated.


There is a games room which has table tennis, table football and a number of other game sets for all ages to use.


There are 5 bicycles at the villa for guest use (all suitable for adults and older teenagers) - locks are provided.

Golf and Tennis

Château des Vigiers Golf Club – has 27 challenging holes.  It also has a 6 hole academy course with 2 par 4’s and 4 par 3’s which is ideal for beginners.  Add to this 6 covered and 6 open-air driving ranges, a putting green, a chipping green and a practice bunker.  The resident professional is happy to give lessons.  

Montendre Golf Club – The closest to “Les Chênes”, a 9 hole course suitable for children and mid-high handicaps. 

Golf International de Pessac (Bordeaux) – Beautiful with an 18 hole course, 9 hole course, driving range and practice putting green.  

Angoulême Golf Club de L’Hirondelle - Set high up on the hills with beautiful views over Angouleme.  Half sets of clubs can be hired for 15 Euros. 

Aubeterre-Sur Dronne - 18 holes with tennis courts.  You do not need to be a long hitter!


Montguyon (4km away by car) also has tennis courts.

In St. Martin d'Ary - you will find Château le Taillan. where they offer horse riding for all level


​Walks and Visits

The Fa Gallo Roman Site at Barzan, (through Mirambeau).

One of the most important Gallo Roman Sites in the region covering over 150 hectares and including the remains of a temple, a villa, thermal baths and a port.

Open every day from April – Sept  10:00 – 19:00  Oct – Mar   14:00 – 17:00 (Closed – Jan)​
